Affordable Medicines Europe processes the personal data of its website visitors lawfully, in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (hereinafter “GDPR”), and the Belgian law of 30 July 2018 relating to the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data.

To that purpose, the present Privacy Policy details which personal data is processed, which cookies are used, the recipients of the data, how long the data is being retained, as well as the website visitor’s rights under the GDPR.

Purpose of processing

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To receive, manage and respond to enquiries submitted through the website and to communicate with the sender;
  • To create and manage your membership account and provide access to member-restricted content. 

The processing is based on our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

We do not intentionally transfer your personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

 

Retention Period

We retain personal data collected for the purpose of website operation and collecting enquiries through the contact form for a maximum of 12 months. 

Additionally to website retention, personal data sent through the contact form is subsequently sent to info@affordablemedicines.eu. The person in charge of handling the enquiry shall retain the personal data for a maximum of 12 months from receipt, after which the enquiry is manually deleted from the inbox.

Membership data is retained for the duration of membership. 

The website is hosted by OVHcloud, which processes technical and infrastructure data under its own data retention policies, details of which are available in OVHcloud’s privacy documentation.

 

Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal data;
  • Request the rectification of inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
  • Request the erasure of your personal data where applicable;
  • Request the restriction of processing;
  • Object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests;
  • Request the portability of your personal data where applicable;
  • Withdraw your consent where processing is based on consent (without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal).

Right to Lodge a Complaint

If you consider that your personal data have been processed in breach of the GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority or with the supervisory authority of your habitual residence or place of work.

Affordable Medicines obligates itself to take reasonable, physical, technological and organizational precautions with a view of preventing (i) unauthorized access to your personal data, as well as (ii) loss, misuse or alteration of your personal data. 

All personal data processed are stored on a secure server in the European Union.

The present Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect changes in our processing activities or applicable legislation. The latest version will always be available on this website.
