The full potential of parallel trade to improve the functioning of the supply chain in Europe will not be unlocked until national and EU authorities take a stand against the discrimination in the market and implement a favourable framework for parallel imports.
In addition to this, an alternative procedure to facilitate and streamline the entry of parallel imports when there is a problem of supply for a pharmaceutical product. Due to the characteristics mentioned above, parallel traders would be able to solve or alleviate the shortage faster than the industry itself.
